Head of Government Affairs
Our team helps businesses to navigate multiple tiers of complex regulation and engage with a network of government agencies and elected officials. We build responsible partnerships at both a federal and local level to help our portfolio companies manage their regulatory risks and unlock growth opportunities.
We foster relationships with policy and decisionmakers at a local, state and federal level, and help businesses make informed decisions on government actions that impact their operations.
Complex regulatory requirements can be challenging for growth-stage companies, while changes in governance can result in regulatory swings that alter the competitive landscape for our businesses. We act as a sounding board for companies to help think about these challenges in a more proactive and strategic way, providing insights, policy analysis and expertise to help plan for and mitigate regulatory and compliance risks.
Key areas of the industrial decarbonization economy are attracting significant amounts of public investment at both a federal and local level. We advise our portfolio companies on how they can become eligible for these incentives and help them to apply for funding where appropriate.
Our support provides a platform for businesses to scale their operations and accelerate their growth, helping them to build strong relationships at both a federal level and in the communities where they operate.

Making Local and Global Impacts
Our team worked closely with VAC to develop a strong network of community support for its North American rare earth permanent magnet facility in Sumter, South Carolina, and ensure policies support a diverse and resilient magnet supply chain globally.

Ensuring Product Competitiveness
Working with federal policymakers and industry partners, our team promotes how manufacturing investments and thoughtful trade policy can deliver safe and low-carbon consumer goods, such as Genera’s compostable packaging and bioproducts made from carbon-negative grass fiber.

Providing a Washington Home Base
Ara’s Washington, DC office provides a home away from home for companies already implementing an advocacy strategy, such as Divert. Our team can provide workspace, conferencing space, and additional advocacy support to portfolio companies efforts in the city founded for policymaking.
